I walked out from where I was staying to Buckingham Palace this morning. Even though it was very early I was struck by the quiet reflection.
It feels to me that we have lost a connection to an important part of our past, and continuity that she bought throughout the immense period of change that her reign saw.
There is also a connection to our own families, this was particularly true at Christmas where have always sat down to watch the Queen's Speech. 3pm on Christmas Day will feel quite different this year.
